What if health care was more than just a service you seek when you're sick? Through its partnership with the Town Center CID, Kaiser Permanente aims to blend health and wellness into the daily lives of Kennesaw residents through fun and educational events.
David Van Voorhis, Manager of Strategic Partnerships, Sponsorships, and Events at Kaiser Permanente, leads this initiative with a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and employees. Together, they promote health and wellness through numerous activities, emphasizing their commitment to being an integral part of each community they serve.
Kaiser Permanente currently offers a variety of activities open to everyone. These include bike lessons and yoga classes designed for participants of all ages. The sessions provide a daily dose of Vitamin D, build self-confidence and foster a sense of accomplishment. The yoga classes, held at Town Center’s Aviation Park, are led by instructors from the Kennesaw REI store on Saturday mornings, helping participants start their weekends with healthy routines.
Kaiser Permanente’s community engagement doesn’t stop there. The organization also hosts pop-up sunscreen stations throughout the year to promote sun safety and dog hydration stations to ensure pets stay hydrated, highlighting their holistic approach to community well-being.
“We’re not just a building or a brand; we’re individuals out in those same communities. Our doctors, nurses, and employees frequently participate in classes or enjoy trails with their family and friends,” said Van Voorhis. “It's not just about buildings, and it’s not just about members; it's about the entire community’s health.
During the pandemic, widespread isolation limited people's ability to form new relationships. However, nearby trails and various classes offered by Kaiser Permanente provided opportunities to forge new connections through outdoor activities.
Through its collaboration with the Town Center CID, Kaiser Permanente has created “points of connectivity that show alignment outside of just being a trusted brand.” The partnership and commitment to the community exemplifies how Kaiser Permanente is much more than a health care provider; it is a vital, active participant in fostering a healthier, happier community.
