How Master Plans Have Shaped Town Center Community for Nearly Three Decades

Town Center Community is proud to announce the launch of its 30-Year Vision Master Plan, a milestone that marks the next chapter of strategic community-driven investment. The Town Center Community has executed five master plans since 2004, guiding the district’s response to evolving growth patterns, transportation demands and quality-of-life expectations.

The 30-Year Vision is not simply another planning exercise. It is a long-term commitment to ensuring Town Center Community remains a place where residents, businesses and partners can thrive for generations to come. Like every plan before it, the 30-Year Vision will serve as a living, working document that guides decisions, directs investment and turns community priorities into concrete action.

Why Master Plans Matter

Across a 6.25-square-mile district that supports more than 36,000 jobs, generates $12.6 billion in annual economic impact for Cobb County and contributes $16.2 billion to Georgia’s economy, thoughtful planning is essential.

Master plans inform nearly every decision Town Center Community makes: transportation priorities, capital investments, grant applications, economic development and public space improvements. Community and stakeholder input shapes each plan, ensuring investments serve both the businesses that anchor the area and the residents whose daily lives depend on it. Planning, in short, is part of the community's DNA.

From Vision to Reality

The impact of master planning can be seen throughout Town Center. Every major project was shaped by years of study and research and ultimately became reality through careful planning and sustained investment. Together, these projects illustrate how Town Center has evolved while delivering measurable results:

• Noonday Creek Trail (2014) — Seven miles of connected trail linking Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park to the Bells Ferry Trailhead.

  
  

  

• Skip Spann Connector (2016) — Cobb County's first lighted bridge, improving connectivity, visibility and safety for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

  
  

  

• Aviation Park (2017) — A 3-acre public park on Noonday Creek Trail, featuring STEM-inspired exhibits, a playground, art, a bikeshare station and public restrooms.

  
  

  

  
  

• Bells Ferry Trailhead (2017) — The district’s easternmost point of the Noonday Creek Trail, providing trail-friendly amenities, including restrooms, a bikeshare station, benches, landscaping and water fountains.

  
  

  

  
  

• Public Art and Murals (2022 - ongoing) — The community unveiled its first mural in 2022, launching a placemaking program that now includes multiple public art installations, the Chimney Swift Tower and the first Tiny Doors outside the perimeter.

  
  

  

  
  

• Wayfinding and Trail Signs (2025) — A district-wide signage system guiding residents and visitors through parks, trails, shops and more.

  
  

  

  
  

• South Barrett Reliever (2026) — As Town Center’s largest infrastructure project to date, the strategic road realignment is expected to reduce congestion along Barrett Parkway by more than 22% on a corridor that carries nearly 60,000 vehicles daily.

  
  

  

• The Loop (ongoing) — A continued commitment to a connected, multi-modal district. The Loop brings together multiple transportation investments to create a coordinated system that improves mobility, safety, and redevelopment opportunities.
