Since 1980, Geo-Hydro Engineers has been Cobb’s go-to for environmental consulting services, geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and special inspection services. Their growth and success have stemmed from gathering the right people, employing the latest technology, and working hand-in-hand with owners, developers, design professionals, lenders, and contractors throughout the industry.
In the years since its founding, Geo-Hydro has continued to expand geographically and now operates out of five offices, three of which are in Georgia. When asked about the choice to settle in Town Center Community, Managing Principal/CEO Phil Barber replies, “Cobb County is where our people are.”
This focus on people and community also is reflected in the growth of their robust ownership transition program. “One of the unique things about Geo-Hydro is that we have continued to grow our employee ownership, and we currently have twenty-five employees that have ownership within the company,” says Barber. Of these twenty-five employees, nine graduated from Kennesaw State University, including Barber.
After more than 40 years in Town Center, Barber cites access to talent through KSU, easy access to the interstate, and proximity to desirable residential areas, retail, and restaurants as advantages to his business being located here. “It’s good to be in an area where you continue to see meaningful improvements,” says Barber.
Recently, their firm provided construction materials testing, special inspections, geotechnical engineering, and environmental consulting for the SOVA and The Indy student apartment homes at Kennesaw State University. For developers considering partnering with Geo-Hydro, Barber would encourage them to reach out.
“The best thing we can do for our clients is to be engaged early in the process so we can help them understand the geotechnical and environmental aspects of their projects as early as possible.”
Town Center thrives because of businesses like Geo-Hydro Engineers.
