Valerie Winrow is the Director of External Affairs for the Town Center CID. In this role, Valerie leads internal and external communications and public relations activities to foster positive public awareness and support the organization’s goals, messaging, and initiatives.
During her 25-year career in public service, Valerie has served in a variety of roles in both the private and public sectors. Most recently she has consulted for Equifax, driving innovation, automation and process integrations across the company’s global business units. Prior to that Valerie consulted for Cox Communications, supporting the company’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability goals.
Valerie’s tenure with the City of Atlanta included roles with the Departments of Police, Planning, and Public Works. As the Senior Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Engagement for the Public Works Department, Valerie was responsible for leading, planning, implementing, and supporting all aspects of sustainability programs & initiatives. In addition, Valerie provided oversight of internal and external communications, public relations, marketing outreach and community engagement. She led various urban planning, economic development, transportation, and solid waste management projects, as well as provided oversight of legislative & policy matters.
Valerie is married with two children and resides in the Town Center Community. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy/Administration with a minor in Urban Planning from Georgia State University, an Executive Master’s Degree in Natural Resources, and a Certificate of Sustainability from Virginia Polytechnic University. In her leisure time she avidly supports the arts community and enjoys the natural environment, while gardening, walking, biking and hiking.
