Project Description

Project Information

The Town Center CID’s successful launch of it’s bike share program partnering with Zagster in November of 2015 is a state precedent—the first CID-sponsored bike share program in Georgia.

The goal of this project is to provide a safe, fun and affordable transportation alternative in the Town Center area and encourage the community to stay healthy. With this program, students, residents, visitors and employees in the district who are age 18 or older can rent a bike from docking stations simply by using a mobile phone and a valid credit card, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Don’t forget to bring your helmet!

There are currently 45 bikes and 6 convenient bike share stations located along the Noonday Creek Trail , a seven-mile multi-use path system in the Town Center community. Bike stations are located at the Bells Ferry Trailhead, Avonlea Creekside Apartments, Founders Park, Town Center Mall at Cobb, Aviation Park and Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Current Status

Phase I of the Town Center Bike Share Program is complete. In October of 2016, the bikes were upgraded to Bluetooth-controlled locks that open using the Zagster smartphone app. In May 2019, the program added eight bikes at Founders Park. Another station at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park has been sponsored by Cobb & Douglas Public Health and installed in September 2019. Both new stations are along Noonday Creek Trail. More bike share locations will be installed after careful analysis of rider statistics, with additional stations planned for the Kennesaw State University campus and throughout the district. The plans for the program extend even beyond the Town Center community. The Town Center CID, Town Center Community Alliance and Zagster are working with a variety of civic and local government partners to connect Cobb trails to each other and then to trail systems in Cherokee and Fulton, including the Atlanta BeltLine.
