The seven-mile Noonday Creek Trail is a rare amenity in an urban environment, a scenic and natural connector between Bells Ferry Road and Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. The goal of this project was to pave the trail, making it accessible to more types of community recreation, such as cycling, walking or jogging.
The trail takes advantage of under-utilized green space throughout the district, incorporating it into everyday use for area employees and visitors. Some of this green space resides behind Town Center office buildings, offering an ideal outlet for employees who want to stretch their legs and refresh their brains with some time outside the office.
The Noonday Creek Trail is enhanced by bike sharing stations, benches and trash cans for trail users’ convenience. Zagster Town Center Bike Share Program launched in November of 2015 and is available at a total of five area locations constructed along the Noonday Creek Trail: Aviation Park, Avonlea Apartments on Chastain Meadows, Bells Ferry Trailhead, Founders Park and Town Center Mall.
Visitors coming by car can also access the trail at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Visitors Center. An additional bike share station is coming to this location later this summer. Few urban environments in the country can boast such an extensive and connected park system, with a bike share program to go with it.
