Project Description

Project Information

As the eastern entrance to the Noonday Creek Trail, the Bells Ferry Trailhead is an ideal parking area for those getting started on the scenic, seven-mile trail. This project creates enhancements to the trailhead area, making it more visitor-friendly and providing amenities to help trail users begin and finish their trail journey more comfortably.

A bike rental station was added in November of 2015 as part of the Zagster Town Center Bike Share Program giving all the ability to ride the trail even if they didn’t bring a bicycle!

Winter Design provided the project renderings/concepts for this project, and Arcadis provided the project’s Feasibility Study and presented their Park Programming Analysis and Report. With preliminary engineering and design is complete, notice to proceed with construction was given on May 1, 2017.

The Bells Ferry Trailhead has a 50-space parking lot, a Zagster Bike Share facility, bench seating, trash receptacles, a restroom facility with a drinking fountain, and several other amenities.  Integrated Construction and Nobility INC completed construction in January of 2018. Since then, the site has experienced consistent activity for walkers, joggers, runners, and bikers alike. In October of 2019, the concrete pad at the bike share station was extended to create additional room for amenity options being considered and installed at a later date.

The Town Center CID provided 100% of the funding for this project, which was about $525,000 with construction completed in January of 2018.
